The UCI Libraries occasionally utilize people who are
not formally associated with the university to perform tasks as volunteers
or interns.
Anyone participating
in an internship or volunteering in the UCI Libraries must be "hired" on a "without
pay status" appointment, in order to protect the Libraries and the employee
in the event of injury. Therefore, the UCI
Library Interns/Volunteers Form should be filled out and submitted to
Library Human Resources. The form asks for a brief description of duties
and a schedule in addition to the usual basic personal information about
the intern/volunteer.
The UCI Libraries do not normally accept high school
students as volunteers.
We only accept high school students who have been ordered by the courts
to perform community service if the court has specifically ordered that the
service
be in the UCI Libraries.
