» Student Employment Opportunities
Library Human Resources is responsible for coordinating the student hiring process for the Langson, Science and Grunigen Medical Center Libraries. Web-based instructions on how to apply for positions and an online application for employment are available at http://hr.lib.uci.edu/recruithire/students/info.php. Library supervisors can access all applications regardless of the specific positions for which the applicants applied at https://studentapps.lib.uci.edu:5021/supervisor/ (Requires Internet Explorer 5 or later). Applications will remain in the Library Human Resources database for one quarter. Students are encouraged to submit updated applications as soon as class schedules are finalized.
Once a student assistant supervisor has selected a student to hire, the Student Payroll Authorization Form will be automatically generated and electronically submitted to Library Human Resources. No student may begin to work until Library Human Resources has authorized the start of employment.
» Hiring Graduate Students
Graduate students may be hired into Student Assistant titles at up to 49% appointments if they are registered as full-time students (8 units or more) and are not receiving a type of aid that prohibits employment (such prohibitions should be spelled out in their award letters). Graduate students apply for Student Assistant jobs using the same online process described above. Once a student assistant supervisor has selected a graduate student to hire, the Student Payroll Authorization Form will be automatically generated and electronically submitted to Library Human Resources. Library Human Resources will consult with Research and Graduate Studies in order to determine if the graduate student is eligible for student assistant employment. No graduate student may begin to work until Library Human Resources has authorized the start of employment.
