Resources for Library Staff Interested in Becoming Librarians

The UCI Libraries strongly encourage library staff interested in pursuing careers in librarianship. To assist staff interested in librarianship, this web site provides links to information about librarian careers, master's degree programs, funding available from a variety of sources including the UCI Libraries, and work release time available.

»UCI Support for Staff Enrolled in Library School

The UCI Libraries provide funding and release time for library staff attending master's programs in library and information science.

The Guidelines for Allocating Staff Development Funds allow funding up to $960 per year for staff enrolled in LIS master's programs.

The Guidelines for Granting Release Time to Non-Exempt Staff Employees allow release time from the employee's normal work week equivalent to the actual class hours up to 10% of the work week, subject to approval of the supervisor.
